| Description: | Being the cat lover I am, I wanted to create a lively sculptural animal whose form induced a visual motion that flowed around the whole piece. This was accomplished through the tail, in mid-flick, as though something had just caught the cat's attention. Its arm is raised, ready to bat at something that caught its eye. For the fur, I carved hundreds of little lines which influence motion down the piece and over the hump of its back. The cat was woodfired in Nils Lou's anagama, and received a surprising signature mark on its face from a drip of glaze that escaped off of Cindy Hoskisson's vase on a shelf above. |
